Basic exercises for Upper Body

Bench Press

The barbell or dumbell bench press is an extraordinary upper body exercise. It involves the recruitment of chest, shoulders and triceps. To perform the exercise, lay flat on the bench retract your scapula, unrack the weight and start pressing.



Dips

Dips are another example of recruiting multiple muscle groups of the Upper Body in one exercise. To perform you grab the handles and hold yourself. Then you lower your body focusing on triceps or chest (depends what you want to work more)

The Overhead Press

This exercise focuses on shoulders and puts a little bit of pressure on the triceps as well. To perform it, stand still on the ground, grab the bar with shoulder width apart. Unrack the weight and start pressing above your head.

Push up

Push up is one of most basic exercises for the Upper Body and you don't need any equipment in the gym to do it. It is a phenomenal bodyweight exercise.
